Anxiety: We work with children/adolescents and families on learning relaxation skills, visual/guided imagery, identify triggers for anxiety, thought stop and thought replacement skills.
Anger Management: Working with children/adolescents and families on identifying triggers for anger outbursts, track number of outbursts, teach anger management skills and relaxation skills.
Depression: Working with children/adolescents and families on developing coping skills list, teach children/adolescents and families about symptoms of depression, working with children/adolescents and families on developing a natural support system.
Independent Living Skills: We work with adolescents and families on transitioning to adulthood. Work with adolescents on learning budgeting skills, personal hygiene skills, nutritional skills, and healthy life styles.
Mild Autism: We work with child/adolescents and families on setting up routine within the home, social and communication skills, and personal boundaries.
Psychosis: Working with children/adolescents and families on understanding psychosis, teach children/adolescents and families strategies to relieve/reduce symptoms, educate on side effects of medications, work with children/adolescents on improving quality of life.
Selective Mutism: We work with children/adolescents on behavior bridge to increase communication skills through small steps while using a behavioral reward system. Teach children/adolescents and families relaxation skills, guided imagery, and self-talk.
ODD: (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) Work with children/adolescents and families on communication skills, increasing level of respect within the home, and educating children/adolescents and families on positive and negative consequences and thinking errors.
ADHD: (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Work with children/adolescents and families on setting routine in the home, teach organization and time management skills, educate children/adolescents and families on hyperactive and impulsive behaviors and how to manage, create behavioral management goals and plan.
Psychoeducation: Working with children/adolescents and families on understanding mental health diagnosis and teach families about resources for their children/adolescents.
Substance Abuse: We work with children/adolescents and families on identifying triggers for substance use, create a personalized relapse prevention plan, and learn new coping skills.
Eating Disorder: We work with children/adolescents and families on learning the importance of eating nutritionally, create food intake charts for children/adolescents, and teach emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and other skills to children/adolescents and family.
Hygiene Skills: Working with children/adolescents and families on creating a personal hygiene chart to follow, track personal hygiene accomplishments, teach appropriate personal hygiene skills thorough reading books and demonstrating with dolls.
Nutrition: Teach about basic food groups, work with children/adolescents and families on developing balanced menus for the family, track eating patterns for children and/or family.
Child and Family Services of Yuma, Outpatient Program offers behavioral management to children/adolescents and their families. With the families assistance, CFS staff work to identify the behavioral issues, teaching replacement behaviors and skills, and encourage behavioral change through positive motivation, developing reward systems with families, and increasing motivation for change.
